August ‘Gus’ Colonna, Aaron Fjeldsted and Luke Graney were named captains for the 2017 season yesterday.
Colonna (Williamstown, MA – Northfield Mount Hermon) is a Junior midfielder who transferred from Wagner this season.
“I’m truly honored to be voted as captain by my teammates for this season. It’s a pretty humbling experience,” said Colonna. “The amount of respect I have for my teammates and coaching staff is unparalleled. I’m motived to develop into a positive role model and leader for the team.”
Fjeldsted (Alpine, Utah – Lone Peak), a Sophomore attackman, returned from an LDS mission this summer and transferred from BYU.
“To me, being captain has everything to do with trust, and service,” said Fjeldsted. “Everything I do should help strengthen the trust that we have together as a team, and with that trust, serving the team in whatever what I possibly can.”
Graney (Draper, Utah – Juan Diego) is a Senior attackman who has been a leader ever since joining the Utes in 2014.
“Overall, I’m just so grateful that all of my teammates trust me as someone they want to help lead the team,” said Graney. “I will do everything in my power to help get this team to where we want to be. I love this team and I’m just excited to see all the hard work that we have put in and will continue to put in pay off.”
The Utes open the 2017 season against Chapman on February 16.
“There is no feeling in this world that compares to how I feel on game day and I’m down the days,” said Colonna.
